Job seekers with a passion for animals are invited to attend a virtual hiring event for the University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals in Marion and Alachua Counties on Tuesday, August 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. .
The free online hiring event is hosted by CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion and its Talent Center affiliate at the College of Central Florida in partnership with CareerSource North Central Florida.
Andrea Abrams, Talent Center Manager, said, “Because UF Veterinary Hospitals and their satellite clinics span multiple locations across two counties, we thought a virtual recruiting event would be the most convenient way to put connecting interested candidates with hiring managers.”
Abrams said the event will allow candidates to explore career opportunities at UF Pet Emergency Treatment Services in Ocala, as well as the new 40,000 square foot UF Veterinary Hospital at the World Equestrian Center and small, large and UF equestrian facilities in Gainesville.
Full-time and part-time positions include veterinary technicians, assistants, customer service representatives, and veterinarians, among others. Many of the positions available do not require special degrees or certifications.
“We use a proven, user-friendly virtual platform that trained during the height of the pandemic,” Abrams added. The online event will provide candidates with a one-on-one experience including video interviews.
Kelly Rick, UF Veterinary Hospital Manager for Equines and Large Animals, said, “We want to build your abilities. We want to develop your skills. Our goal is to help you advance in your career.
Twenty years ago, Rick began her career at UF Veterinary Hospitals as a clerk, and she said she was proof of that commitment.
“This organization has made my career grow. It’s a great place to build a lifelong career. We truly believe that a good employee is a great asset no matter where you end up, whether you stay in the hospital or work for the College (of Veterinary Medicine) or UF in general,” Rick said. .
